GM rolls out security protocols at ventilator plant

Normal Motors on Thursday rolled out a sequence of security measures for employees in Indiana who will make ventilators, outlining what might be a blueprint for opening U.S. auto crops within the coming weeks.

Greater than 1,000 GM employees will make the ventilators at GM's Kokomo, Ind., plant. The automaker goals to start mass manufacturing by mid-April and to make 10,000 ventilators a month by summer time.

The measures embrace checking employees' temperature as they arrive for work, and every work station can be positioned no less than 6 ft aside, GM stated.

There can be a 30-minute interval between shifts so employees can clear work stations after they arrive and earlier than they go away. Cleansing crews will sanitize widespread areas and "contact areas" akin to door handles, no less than 3 times per shift.

A spokeswoman for GM stated the measures could kind a blueprint for security protocols at the remainder of GM's crops as soon as the automaker decides to restart manufacturing when the pandemic disaster recedes.
